    The Grogan Perspective

Dan and Kelly highlight fantasy news from around the web that you shouldn't miss

From Tampa Bay Online: (Read full article)

Our Take: We interpret this as head coach Raheem Morris putting some pressure on Byron Leftwich and Luke McCown. Both guys better show up for training camp ready to go.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

    Position Relevance: QB

From St. Louis Post Rams News: (Read full article)
    6/17/2009 4:10:01 PM

Our Take: A good reason not to get too enamored with Marc Bulger even as your backup QB.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Saint Louis Rams

    Position Relevance: WR

    6/17/2009 3:45:20 PM

Our Take: This combo must click if either Williams or Romo is going to offer expected value.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Dallas Cowboys

    Position Relevance: QB

    6/17/2009 3:41:11 PM

Our Take: There looks to be some late round sleeper value in Pettigrew.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Detroit Lions

    Position Relevance: TE

    6/17/2009 3:38:41 PM

Our Take: Chicago has been the subject of WR rumors - Plaxico, Boldin and, more recently, Brandon Marshall. Often, where there's smoke there's fire and a veteran receiver here would have a very positive effect on Jay Cutler's value.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Chicago Bears

    Position Relevance: WR

    6/17/2009 3:30:45 PM

Our Take: Don't underestimate Harrison's opportunity in the OTAs. We think he's worth a handcuff with Lewis as a late rounder in a deep draft.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Cleveland Browns

    Position Relevance: RB

From Baltimore Sun: (Read full article)
    6/17/2009 3:27:34 PM

Our Take: Marshall would likely lose fantasy value in the very conservative run-oriented Ravens' offense, but then again, we project his stock to drop if he stays in Denver.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Denver Broncos

    Position Relevance: WR

From Arizona Republic: Chad Ochocinco plans to move in with quarterback Carson Palmer's family in July. (Read full article)
    6/17/2009 3:25:01 PM

Our Take: Whether you call this a "sleepover" or not, we like the commitment Ochcocinco is showing early in the going. While many fantasy owners have been burned by him recently, he actually might be undervalued on draft day.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Cincinnati Bengals

    Position Relevance: WR

From 49ers Blog and Q&A: (Read full article)
    6/17/2009 3:19:25 PM

Our Take: Whether it's Smith or Hill, you're looking at a deep fantasy backup. But, stuff like this is importance nevertheless especially if you're in a deep draft.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: San Francisco 49ers

    Position Relevance: QB

From Philly Inquirer & Daily News: (Read full article)
    6/9/2009 12:28:53 PM

Our Take: Good overview of Philly's receiving corps - at the moment. Appears Curtis is losing value while Avant might be in the sleeper category.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Philadelphia Eagles

    Position Relevance: WR

Dennis Northcutt / WR / Det

Northcutt has been acquired by Detroit in a trade with Jacksonville. He'll likely fill the slot receiver role between starters Calvin Johnson and Bryant Johnson.
      • 6/18/2009 4:45:06 PM

Donte Stallworth / WR / Cle

Stallworth has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL following his recent DUI/manslaughter conviction. We seriously doubt he?ll have much, if any, fantasy impact in ?09. The Browns are scrambling to find a receiver to play opposite Braylon Edwards. They signed free agents David Patten and Mike Furrey during the off-season, but word has it that rookies Brian Robiskie and Mohamed Massaquoi will get long looks in camp too.
      • 6/17/2009 11:40:38 AM

Cleo Lemon / QB / FA

Lemon has been released by Jacksonville. Todd Bouman moves into the second slot behind David Garrard.
      • 6/16/2009 3:01:10 PM

Donte Stallworth / WR / Cle

Stallworth has pleaded guilty to a DUI manslaughter charge and will begin serving a 30-day jail sentence immediately. This will be followed by two years of house arrest. He will also likely face discipline by the NFL for violating the league?s personal conduct policy. While Stallworth?s fantasy status is the least of what should be considered here ? a man was killed because of Stallworth's carelessness ? he?s unlikely to be a factor in 2009.
      • 6/16/2009 10:13:17 AM

Brandon Lloyd / WR / Den

Following his release from Chicago, Lloyd has signed with Denver. His signing is a bit interesting since Brandon Marshall has made a request to the Broncos that they trade him and Lloyd played last season with new Denver starting QB Kyle Orton.
