Dan and Kelly highlight fantasy news from around the web that you shouldn't miss

From 49ers Blog and Q&A: Optimism for Frank Gore owners, but sticking with the run will require San Francisco's defense to limit Arizona's offense. (Read full article)
    12/11/2009 11:54:15 AM

    Our Take:

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: San Francisco 49ers

    Position Relevance: RB

From Baltimore Sun: News item: The Ravens badly need a victory Monday night on the "frozen tundra" of Lambeau Field, where the temperature is expected to be in the 20s with a 40-percent chance of snow. (Read full article)
    12/4/2009 12:55:34 PM

Our Take: You have to wonder how QB Joe Flacco's ankle will feel on a cold wet field.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Baltimore Ravens

    Position Relevance: QB

From Baltimore Sun: (Read full article)
    11/20/2009 3:33:09 PM

Our Take: Heap iffy for Week 11.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Baltimore Ravens

    Position Relevance: TE

From ESPN NFL News: With Brian Westbrook sidelined after sustaining two concussions in three weeks, the Philadelphia Eagles are turning to McCoy in a backfield where the most experienced ball carrier is a fullback. (Read full article)
    11/19/2009 12:00:53 PM

Our Take: We doubt if Westbrook will play at all the remainder of the season. LeSean McCoy see increased value even in keeper leagues.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Philadelphia Eagles

    Position Relevance: RB

From Tampa Bay Online: (Read full article)
    6/17/2009 4:12:23 PM

Our Take: We interpret this as head coach Raheem Morris putting some pressure on Byron Leftwich and Luke McCown. Both guys better show up for training camp ready to go.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

    Position Relevance: QB

From St. Louis Post Rams News: (Read full article)
    6/17/2009 4:10:01 PM

Our Take: A good reason not to get too enamored with Marc Bulger even as your backup QB.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Saint Louis Rams

    Position Relevance: WR

From Fort Worth Star Telegram (Cowboys): (Read full article)
    6/17/2009 3:45:20 PM

Our Take: This combo must click if either Williams or Romo is going to offer expected value.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Dallas Cowboys

    Position Relevance: QB

From Detroit Free Press (Lions): (Read full article)
    6/17/2009 3:41:11 PM

Our Take: There looks to be some late round sleeper value in Pettigrew.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Detroit Lions

    Position Relevance: TE

From Chicago Sun-Times (Bears): (Read full article)
    6/17/2009 3:38:41 PM

Our Take: Chicago has been the subject of WR rumors - Plaxico, Boldin and, more recently, Brandon Marshall. Often, where there's smoke there's fire and a veteran receiver here would have a very positive effect on Jay Cutler's value.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Chicago Bears

    Position Relevance: WR

From Browns Beat: (Read full article)
    6/17/2009 3:30:45 PM

Our Take: Don't underestimate Harrison's opportunity in the OTAs. We think he's worth a handcuff with Lewis as a late rounder in a deep draft.

    Importance:

    Team Relevance: Cleveland Browns

    Position Relevance: RB

LaDainian Tomlinson / RB / SD

Look for Tomlinson to be elsewhere in 2010. L.T. told The San Diego Union-Tribune today that he will not be with the Chargers next season. ?I?m not coming back,? said Tomlinson, who added that he believes the Chargers will release him.

Wes Welker / WR / NE

Welker underwent successful knee surgery today to repair a torn ACL suffered in Week 17. At this time, projections for his return vary. Optimistically, he might be ready for the season opener in September, but realistically, it's likely to be much later. A torn ACL is a more devastating injury for a receiver who has to make sharp, precise cuts. We don't think we'll see him until the latter half of the '10 season.

Kurt Warner / QB / FA

Fantasy lost one of its premier QBs today when Warner announced his retirement. It would seem that Matt Leinart's time has now finally come, but only time will tell if he's truly ready to make the leap to being a starter.
    • 1/21/2010 9:25:14 AM

Jonathan Stewart / RB / Car

Stewart had successful surgery on his left Achilles' tendon, Wednesday, January 20th. He is expected to be healthy to participate in the Panthers' minicamp in May.

Deuce McAllister / RB / NO

RB Deuce McAllister has announced he is officially retired.
